And as soon as you replace one, another one goes out.  An easy solution is to get educated on how to refill your own cartridges with quality ink using a tried and tested procedure.<br>For the CLI-42 cartridges, this starts with the highest quality dye inks from a place like Precision Colors or Octoink UK.  Printer experts will advise you to get original Canon OEM cartridges and stay away from those poorly fitting, leaky and potentially print-head damaging "compatible" cartridges.  Precision Colors kits will show you how to prepare an OEM cart for refilling by using a difficult procedure to remove the "ball" from the cart, drilling the filler hole out to the perfect diameter for the rubber tab style plug they want to sell you, and to add on their orange storage clips for another dollar each.<br>You can get used empty CLI-42 cartridges all over ebay at a price of roughly $4-$6 each but you still have to do all the work to properly prep and dry the cartridges plus purchase the luxury add-on parts that I provide with this complete set of eight original and fresh Canon OEM cartridges.<br>With these custom modified original Canon OEM cartridges, the filler ball has been removed, the carts have been expertly flushed to pristine white* and then all cartridges are dried to 13.5 to 13.6 grams. The filler hole has been drilled to 5/32" for accommodating the high quality rubber tab style "plugs" which I provide for you.  Also, the orange storage clip is included to make it easy to do "mess free" filling and "stand-up" storage.  The yellow cartridge has been pre-flushed of all remnant old ink with strong ammonia first.  This is the proper procedure for the yellow jello issue that has been reported. You'll also get 8 rubber filler hole plugs and 8 orange storage clips as shown in the picture with your cartridges.  Compared to other well known vendors prices, these items alone are a $10 value!<br>My cartridges are "fresh".  They have never been refilled before, so they will have a much longer refilling life.  Beware of sellers popping up now that have empty drilled cartridges.
