Offered is a wonderful early 20th century diminutive artisan hand made silver dish from Sri Lanka (Ceylon, at the time this piece was crafted) that likely dates to the first quarter of the 20th century. It is in the shape of a blossom with six curved sides and measures 4.25" across. The weight is ~48 grams (~1.7 ounces).<br>The dish shows beautifully detailed multiple repousse borders of intricate scrolling geometric/foliate patterns surrounding an elephant in the center. There are no silver/maker marks which is usual for South Asian silver pieces of this period. However, the dish was tested with a spectrometer and confirmed to be of high grade silver (between 900-925). The silver shows a beautiful old patina.<br>The dish in very good estate condition with no bends, cracks, repairs or other damage.<br>Thanks and please let me know if you have questions.<br>
